flavor
This Sheng Pu Erh is characterized by fruity nuances of white grapes . It is one of the sweetest Sheng Pu Erh with a soft and smooth texture, sweet aftertaste like white grapes and rock candy lingers long in the back of the throat. The dragon pearls take a bit more time for the first 3 infusions (about 10 seconds) as the cake brews, but the infusions that come after that take less than 5 seconds and have lovely bitter-sweet intensity. It is a tea that can be as gentle or strong as you like want.
One pearl (about 8 g) is enough for about 15 infusions in a gaiwan or 120 ml teapot. While the intensity of the tea diminishes after 10 infusions, the sweetness seems to linger for at least another 15 infusions.
About the Bingdao Dijie terroir
Bingdao, a large village on Da Xue Shan (Great Snow Mountain) in Mengku County, consists of 5 small villages (tribal communities) - Bingdao old village, Dijie, Nuowu, Bawai and Nanpo. The old village of Bingdao produces the most expensive Pu Erh tea, while Bingdao Dijie produces much cheaper tea that is close to, but different from, the old village in taste and mouthfeel.
The average altitude of the old tea forests in this area is 1700 m, with an average annual temperature of 20 °C and an average annual rainfall of 1800 mm. The more old tea trees there are in the village, the more there are, most of them are over 300 years old and grow in the jungle, where there is dead wood and rot everywhere.
If you are a beginner of Sheng Pu Erh, Bingdao Dijie is the perfect choice because it does not have the strong bitterness like many other raw Pu Erh teas (bitter taste is not a bad quality for raw Pu Erh, it is what many people are looking for in raw Pu Erh).
Depending on the amount of tea and the time, the tea can be sweet without bitterness or sweet with a slight pleasant bitterness. The bitterness is transformed into a sweet aftertaste after a few minutes.
This raw Pu Erh is suitable for storage and aging, the older it gets, the sweeter and smoother it becomes. It can be stored for 20 years or more. It will eventually lose all its bitterness and turn into a Pu Erh Shu Cha (fermented Pu Erh) with a darker color and smoother texture.
After you receive the tea, give it a few days to wake up or become active again, because the shipping process on the way might be airtight without oxygen, the tea might not breathe well for a few days, made the tea more bitter and more astringent than it naturally should be.
