Description

High quality oolong from Taiwan made in a traditional way

Traditional Formosa Dong Ding Oolong 2019

Taste and sensation: nutty, roasted, like sweet dew, a little woody, gives a warming feeling

The name "Dong Ding" literally means "Frozen Tip". According to local people, tea farmers who climb the mountain to harvest tea usually come back with frozen toes. Hence the name of the mountain and the tea. The mountain is surrounded by fog for most of the year. It is said that this contributes to the good quality of the tea.

This oolong tea is made by Master Atong Chen in Dong Ding Mountain in Nantou County, Taiwan. The Dong Ding Oolong is a Qingxin variety made in the traditional style, ie relatively heavily roasted.

Most of the dong ding oolong on the market today are not roasted, which gives the tea a high floral aroma and green taste. But traditionally roasted dong ding oolong has a nutty warmth and a sweet feeling like a sweet morning dew. The traditional Dong Ding Oolong has a stable nature, which means that the warmth and sweetness are gently felt up to 6-8 infusions and the tea can be stored for many years, not only without losing its taste, but also getting better over time.

Formosa Dong Ding Oolong is a very good choice for that Chinese Gongfu tea ceremony. The taste of the tea works best when it is brewed in a Gongfu teapot (small teapots of 100ml-200ml).

Preparation in a Gongfu teapot

  1. About 5g Put Dong Ding Oolong tea leaves in a Gongfu teapot / Gaiwan.

  2. Water from 95 ° C add to the pot.

  3. first time approx. 45 seconds brewed (30 seconds longer for further infusions).

  4. In small ones Gongfu cups Brewed Formosa Dong Ding Oolong to serve (a Gongfu teapot usually can serve around 4 Gongfu cups).

  5. 5-6 Formosa Dong Ding Oolong tea leaves can be placed in a Gongfu teapot for approx. Infused 6 times become.
