Description

Laocong Mi Lan Xiang 2020 Spring Tea

This is a super fruity dark Oolong from a village 1000 meters above sea level in Fenghuang mountain, Guangdong province, China. It is newly harvested and roasted in May 2020.

Taste and Aroma

Laocong means old grove or old bush. Compared to Mi Lan Xiang from young bush, this Mi Lan Xiang from old bush is less aggressive in aroma, deeper in taste, more enduring aftertaste and can be brewed a lot more times before losing its floweriness and fruitiness. Laocong (old bush) also means this tea will become obviously deeper in taste after a few months when the leaves further mature.

This Mi Lan Xiang from old bush has less of the pomelo skin taste than some Mi Lan Xiang from young bush, and it has more of the honey sweetness and fruitiness that I cannot name. It’s not fresh peach like it is so well known recently (if any, rather a peach jam), it smells and tastes more of some sweet tropical fruits that I cannot pinpoint.

The aroma of this Laocong Mi Lan Xiang is also so sweet and fruity like some condensed fruit juice or freshly made fruit marmalade. It is just one of the most sweet and fruity teas in terms of aroma and taste. Though the name of the tea means honey and orchid, it is just to give one an idea about its taste and aroma. I think the sweetness and fruitiness is completely unique of the tea itself.

Is he divine

Just got it today, tested it straight away and I really have to say: nectar of the gods. The fruity aroma together with the honey sweetness and a floral taste that words can no longer describe has an intensity that is unparalleled. The aftertaste is also intense and, above all, very long-lasting. Life can sometimes be very beautiful with very little.

Compared to Guihua Xiang Dan Cong, it has a lot more fruit; very sweet in both smell and taste. In later infusions, it loses some of the sweetness and becomes slightly citrusy and sour. In my opinion, the effect of the tea is clearly noticeable due to the older trees. I would rate it a little higher in terms of quality than it actually costs. Highly recommended!

This was my second Dan Cong and the sweetness is very impressive. The cup has a warm yellow color. The warmed leaves smell very fruity. The central theme of the infusion is the highly floral sweetness... which can be too invigorating for some people. ༼ ºل͟º ༽
