The Wild Silver Needle Tea from Tai Mu Mountain, Fuding, Fujian from 2025.

Wild Fuding Silver Needle 2025

Harvest: March 20, 2025
Cultivar: Fuding Da Bai Hao
Terroir : Tai Mu Shan
Altitude: 600-800m

Wild White Tea from Tai Mu Mountain grows at altitudes of 600 to 800 meters—a region considered a golden altitude . Here, ideal climatic conditions prevail, favoring the slow ripening of the tea leaves and the accumulation of valuable ingredients.

Climate, soil and terroir

Wild Silver Needle grows at an altitude of 600–800 m in the Tai Mu Mountains – a region with a mild, oceanic climate, high humidity, and ideal rainfall. The soils are mineral-rich, slightly acidic, and promote deep root growth. Surrounded by almost untouched forest (99% coverage), the tea bushes mature slowly and in a protected environment. The diffused canopy light and single-bush cultivation ensure dense, aromatic leaves with exceptional depth.

Fragrance & Taste – Elegant, complex, expressive

The infusion is crystal-clear with a harmonious interplay of downy scent, floral notes, and honey sweetness . The taste is full-bodied, soft, and develops increasing depth, sweetness, and warmth with aging. The aftertaste lingers with a cooling sensation and a subtle sweetness reminiscent of candied sugar.

Why is Wild Silver Needle twice as expensive as regular Yin Zhen?

The wild tea bushes are approximately 50 to 60 years old and grow high in the mountains. Due to their slow growth and natural environment, harvesting is particularly labor-intensive: An experienced picker can only harvest about 1 kilogram per day. The picking costs are therefore about twice as high as for conventional Silver Needle tea—which is reflected in the exceptional quality and price.

rarity

Wild Silver Needle is extremely rare compared to the common Fuding Silver Needle. The available quantity is very limited each year—there is usually only a single window of opportunity during the year when this tea can be purchased. Within one to two months, it is often snapped up by tea lovers and disappears into private collections. After that, genuine Wild Silver Needle is almost impossible to find on the market.
