Produktbeschreibung

Lao Man E Sheng Pu Erh - 2024 Autumn

Lao Man E is a famous tea village in the Bulang region of Menghai (Yunnan) and known for its strong-charactered Sheng Pu-erh teas. These teas are particularly famous for their potent yet quickly dissipating bitterness, which is accompanied by an intense sweetness in the aftertaste (Huigan). Also typical is a rather subtle, earthy, and slightly leathery aroma that slowly unfolds in the mouth and throat. Spring teas from Lao Man E are considered stronger, more complex, and structured, with greater bitterness and more aging potential. Autumn teas, on the other hand, are usually softer, rounder, and more immediately accessible, with moderate bitterness and often a warm, slightly autumnal fragrance.

  • Origin: Lao Man E village in the Menghai area (Bulang region), Yunnan.
  • Type: Autumn Sheng Pu-erh from "Shengtai" material (organically cultivated tea gardens), more affordable and accessible than Gushu versions.
  • Character: Unusually balanced and relatively mild for Lao Man E.

Taste:

  • Medium bitterness, typical for Lao Man E, but not aggressive.
  • Low astringency, therefore pleasant to drink.
  • After the bitterness, sweetness emerges in the aftertaste.
  • Aroma: Subtle, autumnal scent with earthy, herbal, and slightly leathery notes (typical for Bulang teas).
  • Minerality: Slight "northern Menghai minerality".
  • Suitable for: Also beginners, as it's less aggressive than many Lao Man E teas.
  • Variety: From the "sweet" variety of old tea trees, which has a shorter and more pleasant bitterness.
  • Effect: Can produce a noticeable tea effect ("Cha-Qi") or tea energy.
  • Infusions: Very durable, up to about 20 infusions possible due to large leaves.
  • Terroir Speciality: Lao Man E is located relatively low (approx. 1200 m), but still yields highly prized Pu-erh teas.

Preparation of Lao Man E Sheng Pu Erh

This Sheng Pu Erh should be prepared using the Gong Fu Brewing method to get the maximum enjoyment from the tea.

Lao Man E is known for its strong, bitter aroma and powerful tea effect. With the first infusion, which steeps for only 10 seconds, you experience a pleasant sweetness with an impressive flavor profile and a delightful tea effect. If steeped longer, the bitterness typical of Lao Man E unfolds.
