Hsinchu Oriental Beauty
a clearly fruity, woody, flowery and spicy Oriental Beauty Oolong
Oriental Beauty Oolong from Hsinchu, Taiwan
Oriental Beauty is a type of oolong from Taiwan. The special thing about a good Oriental Beauty is that the leaves were visited and bitten by small green grasshoppers (Empoasca onukii). Only when the leaves are attacked by this particular insect do they produce a certain chemical for self-defense, which in turn gives the tea a special aroma and taste.
Aroma of dried leaves: distinct fruitiness of dried mango, dried plum and a mixture of dried berries and Chinese red dates.
Moist leaves aroma: fruity like raisins, dried cherries, woody like cypress, flowery like ... some sweet tropical flowers and spicy like cinnamon.
Mouthfeel: medium soft to silky
Tea consistency: thin to medium
Taste: Just like the aroma of the wet leaves, this tea has a distinct wood flavor with an explosion of spices like cinnamon and black pepper. The spices remind us a lot of our Mingjian Rougui Hong Oolong, only this oriental beauty is sweeter and flowery. The aroma of dried fruits, berries and raisins in the dry aroma is also important in the taste. The tea tastes like its aromas, which is very calming and therapeutic. In addition, among all the flowers, spices, woods and fruits, the tea also contains a trace of unsweetened cocoa.
