Unique Yiwu Raw Pu Erh in biscuit form. Approx. 8g per piece

2016 Hulugu Sheng Pu Erh

Aroma of the dry leaves: nutty like a good green tea or matcha, warm like summer hay, sweet like honey and some ripe fruits.

Wet Leaves Aroma: a little sweet and a little smoky, reminiscent of caramel and cooked beans

mouthfeel: silky, smooth and thin

Taste: sweet like light honey and apricot. Very sweet and long lasting aftertaste.

Bitterness: a little honeysuckle-like bitterness. From the third infusion, the bitterness disappears and gives way to a fruity sweetness.

Adstringenz: very low and balanced

A raw, unfermented pu erh tea, also known as "green" pu erh. This pu erh tea comes from large tea trees in the village of Hulugu in Lincang, Yunnan Province.

This is a "plain" Sheng Pu Erh that is smooth, pleasant, fruity, sweet with very little bitterness and very little astringency. It is a perfect pu erh for everyday drinking and for tea lovers who are just starting to get to know pu erh because it is smooth and sweet.

The 8g tea is pressed into a flat biscuit shape for easy portability. The flat and uniform shape makes it easy to brew, easier than an 8g scoop. The leaves are evenly brewed, but not like a dragon pearl, which tends to be brewed more on the outside and less in the center for the first few infusions.

Preparation of Hulugu Sheng Pu Erh Beads

This Sheng Pu Erh should go with the Gong Fu Brewing Method be prepared in order to get the maximum enjoyment out of the noble tea balls.

1. Rinse a leaf with boiling water in a gaiwan or teacup, discard the water after 3 seconds. This infusion is not for drinking, just to rinse the tea and loosen the pearl.

2. Pour the boiling water over the bead and count up to 40 seconds if you want a smooth and sweet tea, but up to 60 seconds if you prefer a strong tea. Pour the tea into a mug to enjoy.

3. The above process can be repeated for the later infusions, except the steeping time should be much shorter (20-25 seconds) as now the leaves will loosen and the tea can be ready to drink very quickly. After about 5 infusions, the time can increase again (30-40 seconds) because the leaves are now weak after many infusions.
