Yiwu Huangtian Sheng Pu Erh "Dragon Pearl"

Aroma of the dry leaves: fresh and sweet like green pears, warm like summer hay

Moist leaves aroma: Rock sugar, green peas, green pears, raspberries, flowery and a little soapy

Mouthfeel: silky, gentle and thin

Taste: sweet like light honey, fruity like green pears and a bit of honeysuckle-like bitterness if you let it steep for too long. Very sweet and lingering aftertaste.

Bitterness: almost zero unless you forget about tea for 2 minutes.

Astringency: very low and balanced

A raw, unfermented Pu Erh tea, also known as "green" Pu Erh. This Pu Erh tea comes from large tea trees (Dashu / Qiaomu) in the village of Huangtian in the Yiwu Mountains. Huangtian literally means wild field or deserted field.

This is a "simple" Sheng Pu Erh that is soft, pleasant, fruity, sweet, with very little bitterness and very little astringency. It is a perfect Pu Erh for everyday drinking and for tea lovers who are just starting to get to know Pu Erh because it is gentle and sweet.

Known for its sweetness and gentleness, the Yiwu Sheng Pu Erh is crowned as the Queen of Pu Erh tea (while Lao Ban Zhang is known as the King of Pu Erh). These Huangtian pearls have all the properties of a sweet and gentle Yiwu Sheng Pu Erh.

Preparation of Huangtian Sheng Pu Erh pearls

This Sheng Pu Erh should go with the Gong Fu Brewing Method be prepared to get the maximum enjoyment out of the noble tea balls.

1. Rinse a pearl with boiling water in a gaiwan or teacup, pour the water away after 3 seconds. This infusion is not for drinking, just rinsing the tea and loosening the pearl.

2. Pour the boiling water over the pearl and count up to 40 seconds if you want a soft and sweet tea, but up to 60 seconds if you prefer a strong tea. Pour the tea into a cup to enjoy.

3. The above process can be repeated for the later infusions, only that the steeping time should be much shorter (20-25 seconds), as the leaves will now loosen and the tea can be ready to drink very quickly. After about 5 infusions, the time can be longer again (30-40 seconds), as the leaves are now weak after many infusions.

Pleasantly Peachy Pu Erh - Needs a Temperature Tweak

The tea offers a delightful peachy, fruity taste that's sure to please the palate. However, I found the recommended brewing temperature of 100 degrees Celsius a bit too high, as it resulted in a bitter tea when using 200 ml of water. Adjusting the temperature to 90 degrees provided a much more enjoyable experience. Overall, a satisfying pu erh with just a minor adjustment needed for optimal flavor.
