Pu Erh tea (brick tea)

Pu Erh tea means "dark tea" in Chinese and is made with it even blacker than black tea classified.

The Pu Erh tea comes from one Subspecies of the Camellia Sinensis tea shrub, called QingMao.

The special thing about Pu Erh tea is that it is stored and thus goes through a maturation process. During this storage period, the dark tea is treated with special mushrooms. This complex process gives the Pu Erh tea its very special aroma.

Preparation of Pu Erh tea (loose)

Like black tea, it is advisable to infuse Pu Erh tea with 100 ° hot water in order to develop the full aroma. The tea releases its taste immediately. However, it should pull too long, because the Pu Erh has a particularly high content of caffeine.

Our tip:

Pu Erh tea is very suitable as an accompaniment to the morning breakfast. The high caffeine content perks you up and can be drunk as an alternative to coffee.

Why is this tea also called brick tea?

In ancient China, the tea leaves of the Pu Erh tree were made pressed into molds. The shape often had that too Shape of a brick! After the tea was stored in this brick shape, it could be transported very conveniently.
