Dancong / Dan Cong Oolong

Dancong Oolong are a very special tea specialty from Guangdong in southern China. They can be recognized by the deep black, long and relatively wide tea leaves and an intense scent.

How does Dancong Oolong taste?

Dancong Oolong have their very own flavor profile and are not related to the more well-known, flowery Oolong such as e.g. Formosa Four Seasons or Oriental Beauty comparable. Dancong have strong, tart flavors that can be described as creamy and almost perfume or soapy. There are also floral notes that differ depending on the variety (see below).

Many tea fans who try Dancong for the first time find the taste a bit repulsive at first. Maybe that's because the sensation on the tongue is really unique. After further infusions, however, most people are quickly fascinated by the special feature of Dancong Oolong.

Dancong Sorten

Probably the most famous Dancong variety is the "Duckshit Oolong" or Ya shi Xiang Oolong. Translated as "duck manure smelling" oolong. However, the name is not the program in this case, but can be traced back to an interesting anecdote. You can read it by clicking on the Duckshit Oolong product page. However, this name made the tea very famous.

Other wonderful varieties of Dancong Oolong are the Mi lan Xiang (Orchideenduft), the Xingren Xiang (Mandelduft), the Wudong Ginger Flower or the Wudong Golden Flakes
